This is the second store we have completed for MERCI LEE.

MERCI LEE specializes in Sichuan-style teppanyaki cuisine. Our client gave us a very simple task from the beginning: to design a comfortable and social dining place: After sorting out the key information of the brand, we were pleasantly surprised to find that their product presentation coincides with our space design concept. They presents traditional Chinese flavors through modern cooking techniques, and we also hope to follow this principle in our work: a modern expression of traditional oriental aesthetics...


We did not simply and rudely move superficial traditional elements such as gray tiles and white walls into the space, although such designs can be seen everywhere in Chinese restaurants today. We tried to find direction in scale, layout and light of the space. it is the most essential thing, which focuses on the feeling and relationship between people and space.

We hope that people will have mood swings when they walk in different spaces. The long bridge to the entrance is a journey of meditation; on the contrary, the open bar presents a lively atmosphere: every wisp of fire rises, accompanied by the sound of butter creaking, customers enjoy tastebud satisfaction from Maillard reacted food, and these wonderful moments are opportunities for intimate contact between the brand and consumers; The small space behind the curtain belongs to the intermediate state between the former two. It not only has restraint and tranquility, but also has the desire and impulse to glimpse the bustling; the indoor green landscape is attractiveness of beauty, it is a good natural barrier, and it adds depth and interest to the space.

A stress-free social interaction is the ideal state we strive to create. Light is an excellent solution for conveying the warmth of space, alleviating social anxiety, and creating a stress-free atmosphere.The lamps are hidden, only light revealed. Light in different areas will have different rhythms. The bar is like a stage under the spotlight, which is the focus of the space and acts as atmosphere enlivener. The light in other areas is as dim and soft as possible, usually only the dining table appears. We used a lot of gauze elements, which further weaken the visual stimulation brought by the lamps, and the cotton linen material itself also conveys soft and elegant.

Going back to the beginning, behind the real needs of our client is to establish a warm brand image. We believe that a good commercial design is to correctly establish the connection between the brand and consumers, and convey the brand's proposition and attitude. Those grandstanding concept is not what we intend to.
